Carnival in Brazil traditionally attracts thousands of tourists from around the world. Not no secret that the carnival is associated with an increase in crime. Therefore, the police have warned tourists about the increased danger. They do not suggest that you keep them large sums of money and wander the poor areas of cities – favella.
In recent months the police are constantly making arrests of the leaders of bandit groups in order to clear the city before the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in Rio in 2016. However, the level of crime in Brazilian cities remains one of the highest in the world. On the other hand most of the dancers of the Samba schools were born in poor areas. Winning the carnival for them – another way to reach a new level of life.
Also the carnival in Brazil many have called the “feast of love”. In past years, the authorities handed out to guests of the carnival tens of millions of free condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS and other diseases among Brazilian nationals and tourists. This year it is also planned to organize the free distribution of condoms.
In addition, the authorities of cities warn tourists about the negative consequences of casual relationships with the local beauties. Officials say loving tourists do not only run the risk of catching infection, but losing your wallet, as many of the local prostitutes induce bandits from favell to wealthy tourists.
