What most people imagine when they hear the word “music festival”? As a rule, presents a picture of Woodstock, mountains of garbage and the hippie crowd. Although there are still a few festivals, reminiscent of the counterculture of the 1960s, today there are many music festivals that do not have Woodstock nothing in common. Ultra–Miami, 330000 visitors
One of the biggest electronic music festivals in the world is annually arranged in Miami, Florida. Since 1999, Ultra – Miami has grown from a small underground festival weekend before the annual meeting of hundreds of thousands of fans. In 2014 the festival attracted 330,000 music lovers. Tomorrowland-Boom, 360000 visitors
Tomorrowland began in 2005 and has since become one of the most recognized music festivals in the world. The festival has gained an International Dance music Award for “Best event in the world of Electronic music”. The event was organized by the Dutch entertainment company ID&T and is held in Belgium. In 2014, the concert was attended 360,000 fans. All tickets for 2015 are already sold out. Tommorowland-Boom will take place from 24th to 26th of July, and as the headliner will be Armin van Buuren and Hardwell. Company ID&T Belgium and SFX Entertainment also organizes events at Tomorrowworld Chattahoochee Hills and Tomorrowland in Brazil’s Sao Paulo.
Electric Daisy Carnival, 375000 visitors
Electric Daisy Carnival – the third festival of electronic music in this list. This is a special event in 2015 is planned in four different cities. Last year the electronic carnival was held in Puerto Rico, Mexico city and new York. This year added to Las Vegas. The event kicked off with the Insomniac festival in 1997 and took a little more than 375,000 fans in 2014. Adding a new city in the Western United States guarantees a decent increase in the number of guests this year. This festival has become mega-popular among the public because of the documentary EDC 2013: Under The Electric Sky, is completely dedicated to the event.
The new Orleans jazz festival, 435000 visitors
The new Orleans Jazz Festival (Jazz and Heritage Festival, the oldest music festival in this list. This particular festival has become one of the biggest attractions of the city of New Orleans. Not only that, it attracts hundreds of thousands of people, but each year brings approximately 300,000$ revenue for the city. According to rough estimates, more than 435,000 people attended the event in 2014. Jazz Festival 2015 will take place from 24th April to 3rd may, famous headliners like Elton John, The Who, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band.
Essence in New Orleans, 550000 visitors
Believe it or not, the new Orleans Jazz Festival – the largest music event in New Orleans. That title actually belongs to the festival, known as the Essense. This festival is held in the Superdome special and erwig years of its existence, has earned for itself a very good reputation. Last year’s party was attended by more than 550,000 people. This annual celebration of African American music, arts and culture scheduled for 2-5 July this year. The participants are yet to be determined, but in 2014 among the headliners here was made by the Prince and Lionel Richie.
Festival of music and art in the Coachella valley is probably the most famous festival in this list. In fact, so many people realise large-scale contemporary music festival. Coachella is in Indio California every year since 1999. Last year it was visited by more than 675,000 people. This year there will be AC/DC, David Guetta, Drake, Jack white and many other celebrities. At the time of its launch small Coachella festival attracted just a few thousand guests, but now it is the most profitable music festival in the world, earned $78.3 million in 2014.
Rock in Rio, 700000 visitors
First held in Rio de Janeiro in 1985, Rock in Rio has become one of the largest music festivals in the world. In addition to its Brazilian variant, now the festival is held in three other cities: Madrid Spanish, Portuguese Lisbon and Las Vegas (for the first time this year). This year’s Rock in Rio is scheduled for may 8-16. Among the headliners are always featured the best bands in the world, Metallica, No Doubt, Linkin Park and Taylor swift.
Summerfest in Milwaukee, at 850,000 visitors
This festival is not as well known as Coachella. However, Summerfest is the largest music festival in the United States. In fact, it is the largest music festival in the Western hemisphere. Summerfest takes place in the Park Henry Maier Festival, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. First held in 1968, Summerfest has evolved into a very Grand event and earned the nickname “Big Gig”. Summerfest lasts one week – during this time there have time to make more than 700 artists, both famous and not. The biggest advantage Summerfest – the price. Unlike many other major festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo and Ultra, Summerfest is very affordable. Last year, a daily ticket cost only 15$. Some festivals are collecting an entrance fee, and then further sell tickets for individual shows. But not Summerfest. Here a single ticket is valid for all performers and concerts.
Festival Mawazine, 2.6 million visitors
Mawazine is one of two music festivals in the world, which attracted more than 1 million people. Last year 2.6 million people visited the festival in the city of Rabat, Morocco. This outstanding event in Moroccan culture and art was founded by Muniz, Majidi, publish Secretary of king Mohammad IV. Majidi is also the founder of the “Moroc Culture”, which organizes various cultural events in the country. As you may have guessed, Mawazine is the biggest of these events. The festival runs from 29th may to 6th June. Act as international celebrities and local Moroccan artists. Last year the headliner was Justin Timberlake. This year is the popular group Maroon 5.
